Brent Council has called on residents to help shape its programme for the year of culture in 2020.

It is hosting a public two-day summit to discuss how the programme will be delivered and hopes to see as much creative input as possible.

Those attending will hear about the progress so far and can find out about how everyone in the borough can get involved in the project.

Cllr Krupesh Hirani, responsible for culture and leisure at Brent Council, said: “It’s a great honour to be chosen as the London Borough of Culture 2020.

“Young people and local groups played a key role in winning the bid, so it is vital that they continue to shape the ideas for Brent’s year in the cultural spotlight.”

Brent will be the second borough of culture in London – a new concept devised by the city’s mayor, Sadiq Khan, to celebrate creativity in the capital. Waltham Forest will be the inaugural title-holder in 2019.

The events take place on September 7, from 9.30am-11.30am, and September 8, from 2pm-4pm, at The Granville in South Kilburn.

Anyone wishing to attend the meetings should email culture@brent.gov.uk, specifying which day they would like to attend.
