Brent Council has championed its planning committee’s decision to approve the details of a development that will provide more than 150 affordable homes.

All the properties in the scheme near Wembley Stadium are affordable – more than 40 per cent will be under 'affordable rent' with the remainder available as shared ownership.

The project, in South Way, is made up of 156 units in three buildings ranging from six to 18 storeys and will also offer mixed commercial space and a new facility for Chiltern Railways.

Its features were unanimously approved as the committee agreed that this level of affordable housing was too good to pass up.

Cllr Shama Tatler, responsible for planning and regeneration at Brent Council, said: “We are working hard as a council to provide the homes that people need, so this latest decision from our planning committee is very welcome news indeed.”

Despite the inevitable concerns over any impact on the area, officers noted that, in addition to the fact that permission has already been granted, there have been no objections to the site.

And while car parking is limited – there are just 12 spaces – all of them will be blue badge bays.
