Brent is set to benefit from a new public square by its civic centre after the council agreed to design alterations to one of the Quintain developments.

The site next to the civic centre, known as NW04, has been redesigned to create a large open space leading out onto Engineers Way.

The main building will now be taller – jumping from 88.5m to 100m – and there is potential to link the council building to the new site via a bridge.

The new adjustments mean that it will be marginally closer to the residential blocks behind, but planning officers noted that this will be a similar distance to the civic centre.

Brett Harbutt, head of planning at Quintain, said the alterations will be “an enhancement to the public realm”.

The company is undertaking a massive transformation of the Wembley Park area, delivering thousands of new homes and jobs to the region and introducing new community facilities.
