A “genre-hopping” band are hosting a free live music event to launch their new album available across two major music sharing platforms.

Harrow-based Rock ‘n’ Roll/Blues band, Slo Loris, will be playing a collection of songs from their new album, Psychotonin, at the Trinity Bar, Station Road, Harrow-on-the-Hill, on July 20.

Doors open at 7pm.

Lead vocalist, Jonathan Smart, 26, described their sound as “genre-hopping”, comprising Rock ’n’ Roll, Blues, Alternative and Rap.

The band, who formed four years ago, played at the same venue in September last year to raise money for the victims of the Grenfell fire disaster, at a gig called, Grentheft. £800 was raised on the night.

This time, in addition to Slo Loris, there will be other local bands appearing to support the main act and free t-shirts and other merchandise will be given away.

Jonathan said: “We first formed when me and the rhythm guitarist were in detention at school and were made to clean the school buses with loo roll.

“We formed a band called The Proles (after a community in George Orwell’s, 1984). We just did Oasis and Libertine covers mostly.

“We are a genre-hopping band. I like the way in the show Rick and Morty they redefined comedy, so we emulated that and even though we did start with rhythm and blues, we have taken on some rapping also.”
