A shopping centre administrator will walk a whopping 45km for a charity that helps young people move away from anti-social behaviour.

Jelena Hudd who works at St George’s shopping centre in Harrow, will set off on the marathon-length walk on May 12, to raise money for Ignite trust.

The charity works with young people between 13 and 25-years-old to help them re-engage with their education and employment prospects, and to help them migrate away from negative influences and gang involvement.

St George’s shopping centre partnered with Ignite to help raise awareness of the charity’s work and to empower young people.

Jelena, who works for the shopping centre as an administrator, will start her fundraising walk at Goodwood racecourse in West Sussex and follow the rolling hills of the countryside through the South Down National Trail before heading back to Goodwood.

Jelena Hudd, said: “I have been a volunteer for the charity for three years now and I have seen first-hand the dedication to each and every young person stepping through the door.

“I have also seen the struggles that young people from underprivileged backgrounds face on daily basis.

“People say it takes a village to raise a child, but it takes a lot more to turn a young person’s grim situation into a positive, successful life journey.”

Many of Ignite Trust’s candidates have not had good role models in their lives and seek their family and affirmation within social groups of dubious character.
