A care home will host a neighbourhood bash offering live music and nibbles as part of a celebration of the Queen’s birthday and to bring communities together.
Staff and residents at Erskine Hall Care Home on Watford Road, Northwood will hold the fun-packed event to mark Care Home Open Day on April 21, which coincides with the Queen’s anniversary.
Festivities at the Bupa run care home will start at 2.30pm and go on until 4pm.
Decorations will be hung and there will be music by a singer and keyboard accompaniment, as well as a “British-themed” buffet.
The day will also showcase “everything that’s good” about care homes providing an opportunity for people considering a career in the sector to find out more from staff at Erskine.
Russell Sharp, home manager at Erskine Hall, said: "This is a great way to show the excellent services on offer and the fantastic work that goes on.
“Some people still have misconceptions about care homes, so we are keen to dispel any myths and for our local community to come and have a look around, meet the staff and our residents and take part in the day.”
Care Home Open Day says the occasion is part of a country-wide initiative to bring together people from different cultures and communities to forge new and meaningful friendships and relationships.
This year Care Home Open Day have teamed up with CommonAge, NAPA and Person Centred Software and aligned Care Home Open Day with International Care Home Open Day.
