Cyclists will take on the challenge of riding 100 miles across two days to raise money for a hospice which cares for people with life-limiting illnesses.

On July 28 - 29 up to 26,000 cyclists will journey from London to Surrey in the annual Ride London – Surrey 100 event, for St Luke’s Hospice, Kenton Road, Harrow.

The money raised will go toward various services at the palliative care centre which currently costs over £3.5 million a year to maintain.

Keen cyclist and Ride London entrant, Hugo Hodge, said: “For me, Ride London is the ultimate challenge…I am really excited to be taking part with my son.

“I am proud to be a (30-year) supporter and am delighted that my son has now suggested a challenge for us to do together, and extend our support.”

St Luke’s Hospice offers care to people with incurable illnesses and their families, including motor neurone disease, and heart and lung failure.

The charity said it receives less than one third of its funding from the NHS, offers 2924 days of In-Patient Care each year, as well as over 1100 home visits for community palliative care, and bereavement and counselling sessions for families and carers.
