A disused industrial estate is set to be transformed into a housing and business ‘hub’, which will provide hundreds of people with jobs and homes.

Brent Council’s planning committee agreed to the proposal, which will see the site in Capitol Way, Colindale, demolished and rebuilt.

It is estimated that the work will create more than 200 jobs, while the area will provide office space for small and medium sized companies, as well as 414 new homes.

Cllr Shama Tatler, responsible for regeneration, growth, employment and skills at Brent Council, said: “We're serious about providing the homes that people in the borough need, and in our commitment to supporting local businesses. This scheme will help in delivering those two objectives.

“As well as providing over 400 much-needed new homes for Brent which will help meet housing targets, the new workspace for entrepreneurs, start-ups and local SME's will also help create more than 200 jobs locally.

“The creation of new homes and new jobs on an underused site is great news for our residents and so I very much welcome this decision.”

The new site, which is being developed by NEAT and Royal London Asset Management with Rolfe Judd Planning as planning advisors, will see a two storey commercial building sit alongside a series of buildings between three and nine storeys.
