A hospice is encouraging runners of all standards to take part in a series of fun runs to help raise vital funds for people with cancer and other serious illnesses.

St Luke’s Hospice, based in Kenton Road, Harrow, wants people to sign up to Run Wembley – a jogging event that caters for the whole family.

There will be a 5km and a 10km route, as well as a special 1km run for the kids, with proceedings kicking off at Wembley and Sudbury Lawn Tennis and Squash Club at 10.30am. A family BBQ and music event will take place after the races.

For those taking part on May 13, there will also be the chance to benefit from a training programme devised by Sudbury Court Running Club.

This will include friendly weekly runs, as well as advice on training, health and nutrition in regular email bulletins.

The team at St Luke’s explained how this is a great opportunity to get fit in 2018, while raising much-needed funds for the hospice.

Its operation relies on donations from the public, ensuring that it can maintain excellent care for hundreds of patients each year.
