A young singer gave her biggest performance to date as part of a national TV show watched by millions of people.
Sanjna Vekaria, from Harrow, took centre stage on BBC One’s ‘Michael McIntyre’s Big Show’.
Appearing in the ‘Unexpected Star’ segment of the show, the 18-year-old transforms from an aspiring taekwondo champion into an established musician.
Her mother, Chhaya, nominated her for the part after witnessing her talent develop over the years.
A couple accused of threatening to kill their elderly parents were on trial. Husband and wife Naieem Rahim and Musarat Shahreen, both of Bradenham Road, Harrow, were accused of two counts of coercive and controlling behaviour toward Rahim’s parents, who are both elderly and disabled.
A family-run Sri Lankan restaurant has been crowned Harrow’s Restaurant of the Year after a public vote.
Virundhu, in Field End Road, Pinner, saw off competition from rivals – including three other finalists to take the title. It prides itself on providing an “authentic” Sri Lankan experience and promises its visitors a “melting pot of flavours”.
