A Great British Bake off finalist visited a retirement home currently being developed to share her cooking tips.

Chetna Makan made an appearance at McCarthy and Stone’s Randolph House Retirement Living Plus development in Northwick Park Road, Harrow, last week.

She gave a cooking demonstration in front an audience and baked a white chocolate and pistachio cake and also a carrot and banana cake for visitors to sample.

Ms Makan was a semi-finalist in the 2014 Series of British Bake off and has since released her first book, The Cardamom Trail in which she introduces Indian ingredients into traditional western baking.

She said: “I had a lovely day at Randolph House with the very welcoming team. I also got to meet some of the homeowners and guests who came to say hello and have some cake with me.

“I made lots of cake for the day, including chocolate orange cake, white chocolate and pistachio cake, chicken bake, carrot and banana cake, peanut cookies and lime drizzle cake.

“All the recipes were from my book Cardamom Trail and it was great to share the recipes with the homeowners.”

Stephen Rolt, Regional Sales and Marketing Director for McCarthy and Stone North London said:

“We were so pleased to welcome homeowners, potential purchasers and the local public along to our baking event at Randolph House, where celebrity baker Chetna Makan, did an excellent job at showing the guests her fantastic culinary skills.

“We’d like to offer our thanks to Chetna for coming along and entertaining homeowners and guests with her show-stopping bakes. At McCarthy and Stone we are committed to helping older people stay independent for longer.

“The event at Randolph House provided a great opportunity for retirees looking to downsize a chance to experience all that a McCarthy and Stone development has to offer.”
