Nominations are open for an annual community awards ceremony.

The Barnet Civic Awards, now in their 18th year, are a chance for the borough to recognise people who have done amazing work in their community, whether as an individual or a group.

There are four categories for which people can be nominated, which are young citizen of the year, outstanding service to the community, business award and life achievement award.

The ceremony will take place in April next year and awards will be presented by Mayor of Barnet, Cllr Brian Salinger.

He said: "These awards are a great way for us to celebrate the work of people from all across the borough. We know that there are many residents who go above and beyond to help others and we want to thank them for all they do and officially recognise their efforts.

"If you know someone who is selfless, kind and dedicated to their community, then why not nominate them? I urge everyone to nominate someone they think deserves acknowledgement."

The deadline for nominations is January 31, and to find out more or nominate go to www.barnet.gov.uk/civic-awards.
