A school was treated to a special baking class as part of a national celebration aimed at bringing the community together.
The ‘Challah Make’ at JFS, in Kenton Lane, saw 600 Year 7 and 8 students bake their own personal bread as part of this year’s Shabbat UK celebrations.
They were expertly guided by Rebbetzen Freda Kaplan of Hampstead Garden Suburb United Synagogue as well as a host of staff and volunteers.
David Collins, United Synagogue Director of Jewish Living, said: “This surprise Challah Make was both a meaningful and memorable experience for all involved.
“It provided a positive Jewish experience for the JFS students, connecting their school lives to both their home and shul lives.
“We therefore continue to seek to create a future for our communities through engaging, educating and inspiring the next generation. We look forward to working with JFS again on other projects.”
The bake was followed by musical entertainment from singer Eitan Freilich and an address by Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis.
