A regeneration project has employed almost one hundred people from the area as part of a scheme that will deliver more than three hundred new homes.

The development in College Road, Harrow, at the site of the old post office building, is part of the town centre’s wider regeneration plans.

Part of this project will provide affordable housing for renting or shared ownership and the work has enabled dozens of people get back into work.

This has included a number of apprentices, who have joined the scheme under the Xcite employment programme, which is run by Harrow Council.

Phiroze Mackenzie, head of land and planning for the Hyde Group, said: “The Harrow Square development will transform the area, providing much-needed homes, jobs and community benefits.

“Together with our partners Barratt London, employing local people helps the local economy and enhances the community for all. We are proud to be here.”

The first two blocks of homes are expected to be completed by summer 2018, with the whole development expected to be up and running a year later.
