A Taekwon-Do school has been raising money for the victims of the Grenfell Tower tragedy by taking part in a ‘mega kick-a-thon’.

Instructors and students at Rayners Lane Taekwon-Do Academy collectively performed 40,000 kicks over two sessions in their fundraising effort.

It comes as part of a global campaign for those who practise the martial art to complete one million kicks in honour of those affected by the fire.

The movement was initiated by Grand Master Donato Nardizzi who taught six students who were caught up in the devastating blaze.

Stuart Anslow, an instructor at Rayners Lane Academy, said: “We wanted to do our bit for those who were affected at Grenfell and for the students of the Grand Master.

“He’s hoping for a million kicks so it was nice to contribute and to raise a few hundred pound for the cause at the same time.”

Each set of one thousand kicks takes about two and a half hours, with a number of different combinations involved.

So far, almost 700,000 kicks have been performed across the world by various individuals and groups while more than £26,000 was raised via a Just Giving page.
