A youth organisation organised a “highly successful” event in its bid to reduce the number of young people not in education, employment or training (NEET).

The Harrow Youth Stop Centre, in Pinner Road, seeks to provide careers services for young people in the borough.

Run by education, employment and skills company Prospects, the special NEET event was attended by around 40 youngsters.

A number of these registered with a wide range of employers and companies including Tesco, Harrow College, Xcite and Redwood Skills.

They have since received interviews, applied for courses or signed up to access mentoring support.

Some of those who attended the event explained how it made things a lot clearer in terms of mapping out their future.

Trina Rodden, Service Manager at Harrow Youth Stop, said: “It’s great to see so many young people at the event and shows the importance of offering careers support to young people in Harrow.

“Having local colleges, training providers and employers supporting this event has meant all the young people who attended can benefit from instant access to future opportunities.

“We will now continue to help all those that have visited us today to successfully transition into education, employment or training.”
