Young people volunteering in the community were given a boost when they received some words of encouragement from their MP.
Bob Blackman, MP for Harrow East, visited Stanmore College where he spoke to those taking part in the National Citizen Service programme.
The scheme, which incorporates personal and team building challenges to benefit the community, will involve roughly 8,000 15 to 17 year olds across North London this summer.
Mr Blackman explained that he was pleased to see the participants developing their confidence, communication and teamwork; skills which will prove useful in later life.
He said: “I was proud and impressed by the young people’s efforts on the National Citizen Service programme.
“It was fantastic to see so many of my young constituents from Harrow East participating and making a difference in our local community.
“They have gained valuable skills for work and life and I’m sure they will continue to do great things across Harrow and beyond.”
