14-year-old boys accused of killing man 'dropped glove in getaway minicab'

A group of teenagers accused of stabbing a 19-year-old to death dropped a rubber glove in a minicab as they made their getaway, a court heard.

The four youngsters, two aged just 14, allegedly took the cab from an estate in Hendon to Harrow, west London, then asked the driver to wait as they murdered Hussein Ahmed and attacked two 17-year-olds, the Old Bailey heard.

After seven or eight minutes, they returned to the cab and told the driver "Drive, boss", the court heard.

Mr Ahmed was stabbed once in the back in a street near the South Harrow Tube and suffered massive blood loss. He died in hospital three days later.

Traders call for fairy lights and decorations to 'improve' appearance of street

Traders are calling for fairy lights and decorations to be placed on lampposts along a road in a bid to “improve” the appearance of their area during Diwali and Christmas.

Members of the South Harrow Traders Association met at The Golden Sip, in Northolt Road, South Harrow on Tuesday.

Business owners of shops in Northolt Road believe the lights will make a “big difference” and entice more shoppers.

Police not investigating death of man killed by train

Police are not investigating the death of a man in his early 60s who was hit by a Piccadilly train yesterday afternoon.

British Transport Police and the London Fire Brigade were called to Rayners Lane tube station at 9.30am on Tuesday, May 23.

The man died at the scene and the station was closed for more than hour.

Harrow welcomes 65th mayor

Harrow’s 65th mayor has been appointed.

Cllr Margaret Davine was selected at the annual mayor making ceremony last week and was handed the mayor’s chain of office from predecessor Cllr Rekha Shah.

She moved to the borough in 1959, before being elected as a councillor in 1999 and has represented people in Edgware and Roxeth.

HMRC officer jailed after accessing and sharing customer information

A former tax administrative officer has been jailed for four months after accessing and sharing customer information.

Afshan Kadiri, of Watford Road, Harrow, was sentenced at Harrow Crown Court on Friday, May 19, for unlawful disclosure of information while working at HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

An internal investigation revealed that between July 2015 and December 2015, the 41-year-old accessed customer records to get information about people she knew, before sharing some of it with others.
