A former tax administrative officer has been jailed for four months after accessing and sharing customer information.
Afshan Kadiri, of Watford Road, Harrow, was sentenced at Harrow Crown Court on Friday, May 19, for unlawful disclosure of information while working at HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
An internal investigation revealed that between July 2015 and December 2015, the 41-year-old accessed customer records to get information about people she knew, before sharing some of it with others.
Kadiri, who was employed by HMRC for 14 years, admitted the charges and was jailed for four months for committing misconduct in public office, as well as four months for unlawful disclosure of Revenue and Customs information.
The sentences are to run concurrently.
