A black and white cat has become a “legend” in a town for hanging around a supermarket every day.

Amused shoppers have sent in their pictures of nine-year-old Cooper lounging on a bench outside the Tesco store, in Ash Hill Drive, Pinner.

They say he is often seen wandering outside the automatic doors of the shop or licking water from car tyres in the carpark.

Owner Shani Williamson, of Cuckoo Hill, Pinner, admitted she is concerned people will mistakenly think Cooper is a stray.

She says a stream of people and even staff have been taking pity on Cooper and buying him food.

However, she wants to make it clear he is not lost after regularly receiving calls from people claiming to have found him.

She even bought him a collar with a tag stating: “I live near Tesco”.

Ms Williamson said: “I would hope that if people knew he has a family and a home that this would reduce the risk of him being taken away.

“He wears a collar and I receive daily calls from people who are concerned that he is lost but I fear that since he is there every day, all day and he lost his collar, someone could mistake him for being a stray.”
