A pet owner is concerned shoppers will mistakenly think her cat who has “permanently positioned” himself on a bench outside a supermarket is a stray.
Shani Williamson, of Cuckoo Hill, Pinner, has owned black and white moggy Cooper for nearly 10 years.
However, her pet has become a “legend” in town after constantly hanging around and trying to get into the Tesco store, in Ash Hill Drive, Pinner.
Ms Williamson says a stream of people and even staff have been taking pity on Cooper and buying him food.
She fears they believe he is lost and regularly receives calls from people claiming to have found him, despite the fact he wears a collar with a tag stating: “I live near Tesco”.
She said: “I would hope that if people knew he has a family and a home that this would reduce the risk of him being taken away.
“He wears a collar and I receive daily calls from people who are concerned that he is lost but I fear that since he is there every day, all day and he lost his collar, someone could mistake him for being a stray.”
