Conservative councillor wins Kenton East by-election

A Conservative councillor has won a by-election that was held following the death of the preceding Labour representative.

Nitesh Hirani was today announced as the winner of yesterday’s by-election in the Kenton East ward. 

It is the first time in nearly 40 years that a Conservative candidate has gained the seat.

Fridge launched off bridge smashes into train near Harrow station

An incident where a fridge was thrown into the path of an incoming train is being investigated by British Transport Police officers.

The incident happened at around 6.15pm on Monday, April 10, between Harrow and Wealdstone and Headstone Lane railway stations.

The fridge-freezer was dropped from a bridge and smashed to pieces by the London Midland train.

Police search for two men after 25-year-old man kidnapped at bus stop

Police are searching for two men after a 25-year-old man was kidnapped at a "busy" bus stop.

The man was grabbed by a group of males as he waited for a bus in Station Road at the junction with Manor Park Crescent, in Edgware.

They allegedly shouted they were police and forced him along Manor Park Crescent.

He was then assaulted and bundled into the back of a dark coloured Ford Fiesta Zetec which had stopped by the side of the road.

Tributes paid to 'beautiful, selfless and loving' daughter and sister killed in car crash

Amelia Jayne Szelewski, 25, died after the crash on the southbound carriageway of the A1(M) between Stevenage and Welwyn Garden City on Sunday, April 16.

She had been travelling back from a weekend away in Lincolnshire with her boyfriend Chris Burke, aged 35, and younger sister Celia, where they had enjoyed a break with her two elder sisters and a group of friends.

A parent is calling for a zebra crossing to be built in a “dangerous” road where a four-year-old boy died after being hit by a car.

Edwin Kofi Adu was taken to hospital on Wednesday, April 19, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

He was struck by a silver Volkswagen van on Montrose Avenue at the junction with Burnt Oak Broadway, in Edgware at 7.15pm.

The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene but has not been arrested.

Raju Maharjar lives nearby in Montrose Court and his two sons, who are aged 11 and six, often played outside with Edwin.
