A high street closed for the day as part of its annual celebrations for a patron saint of England.

Competitors took part in the “famous” wheelbarrow race in Pinner High Street for St George’s Day yesterday (Sunday, April 23).

Singer Gemma Turner performed, and there was also a petting farm, folk dancing and a beer festival available at The Queens Head.

During the celebrations, which were held by the Rotary Club of Pinner, the Mayor of Harrow Rekha Shah also led a parade of District Scouts to the War Memorial, where they renewed their “promise” in the presence of the District Commissioner and the Chairman of the Royal Society of St George.
