Harrow MPs welcome general election decision

The MPs for Harrow welcomed plans for a general election later this year.

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Theresa May called for a snap general election on June 8, after fearing divisions at Westminster risked getting in the way of Brexit negotiations.

Labour MP Gareth Thomas, who has represented Harrow West since 1997, believes the election will be a chance to bring to light issues such as the NHS that have previously been overshadowed by Brexit talks.

Bob Blackman, the Conservative MP for Harrow East, said the decision for an election will help towards building a "prosperous future outside of the EU".
