Schoolchildren donned high-vis vests to tour round a new care home.

More than 60 pupils at St George's Catholic Primary School, in Harrow, were welcomed to the Care UK site in Sudbury Hill by constructors and developers, Castleoak.

During the day, they learnt about site safety and the tools and equipment involved in building the four-storey care home.

The home, which is due to open later this year, will provide residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care for up to 80 older people in Harrow.

Justin Daley, construction project manager for Care UK, said: “We were delighted to welcome St George's Catholic Primary School to the site, as it gave the children a first-hand experience of a working building site and the processes involved in creating a home of this size and scale.”

Alun Williams, a construction manager at Castleoak, added: “The site visit was a great way to engage with the little builders of the future here in Harrow.

“We hope the children enjoyed spending their day as real life Bob the Builders and learning about site safety.”
