Budding mathematicians at a primary school celebrated beating other pupils in a series of number challenges.

Pinner High School, in Beaulieu Drive, held its first maths challenge for Year 5 schoolchildren on Tuesday, March 14.

Pupils Aaditya Bhandarkar, Ananth Hari-Narain, Shaina Vadher and Shreya Patel represented Reddiford School, in Cecil Park, Pinner, and came first with 67 points.

Cannon Lane Primary School, in Cannonbury Avenue, Pinner, and West Lodge Primary, in West End Lane, came joint second after competing in a number of number puzzles.

Pupils at St John Fisher School, in Melrose Road, Harrow also took part.

Mr Ford, the mathematics co-ordinator at Reddiford School, said: “The Pinner High School Year 7 pupils were excellent helpers and assisted their visitors through the entire visit.

“There were three challenges for the Year 5 pupils to navigate and especially in the third round, where the wording of the problems caused some able mathematicians to stumble as they tried to unravel the questions.

“All in all, it was a successful event and we are so proud of our budding mathematicians who took part and their excellent achievement.”
