A man is “angry” that overflowing piles of rubbish have been dumped on a street by fly-tippers for more than eight years.

Nava Naren, who lives in The Highlands, near Burnt Oak, walks past bins filled to the brim with waste in Park Way every day.

The 54-year-old says this issue has been ongoing for years and despite constantly contacting Harrow Council to get it removed, litter is still being dropped in the same spot.

A “clean team” removed the rubbish this morning (Thursday, March 16), after The Harrow Times contacted the council.

But Mr Naren believes it is still “unacceptable” that this issue has been going on for so long and he is concerned the fly-tippers may return.

He said: “I’m fed-up and angry as the issue of rubbish and fly-tipping has been going on for at least eight years.

“The waste is left near shops and homes and so it is a health hazard to people who live nearby.”

Cllr Graham Henson, cabinet member for environment, crime and community safety, said the council will now try to catch the fly-tippers.

He said: “Thanks for letting us know - our fantastic clean team have now removed this eyesore.

“Fly- tipping is disgusting and like our residents we condemn this criminal behaviour.

“The residents of Burnt Oak have suffered long enough. Our officers are going to use this evidence to hunt down the criminals blighting our roads and when we catch them we will prosecute them.”
