Schoolchildren dressed up as their favourite fictional characters for World Book Day.

Pupils donned their best BFG, Dr Seuss and Mary Poppins costumes at Cannon Lane Primary School, in Cannonbury Avenue, Pinner, this morning.

The day started with a special book-themed assembly, which ended in a performance of a song that the children wrote together.

Head teacher Alastair Phillips said: “We’ve had a fantastic day in school celebrating our favourite books and our favourite authors.

“Children and staff came dressed as different characters and much of the learning in class focused on the many different stories that children enjoy reading.

“Thank you to the parents of children in 4P who joined us for the class assembly and to all of the parents who worked so hard to provide costumes and props for the children.”
