Shop workers have complained about business being slow after a father-of-two was found stabbed.

Mohammed Al-zufairi was attacked outside the Halifax bank in High Street, Wealdstone, at 6.50pm on Monday evening.

The 34-year-old was taken to a central London hospital but died at 2.30am on Tuesday morning.

Police sealed off a 50-yard stretch of the high street early Tuesday morning as a forensics team searched for clues.

The shops were closed and buses were diverted for the rest of the day.

A witness, who did not want to be named, said: “I wanted to go shopping, but saw all the shops were closed and couldn’t catch a bus out of there.

“There is a huge police tent, which nobody is allowed to go near.”

Shop workers said trade had since been slow while police worked at the scene, and were concerned at damage to the area’s reputation.

Dumitvaseu Cristina, who works at Romanian food shop Georgiana, said: “We have not had many customers today due to the attack, but I think people need to be careful.”

Shahnavaz Shaikh, the manager of Subway in Wealdstone High Street, added: “It feels like people are scared to come here now.”

A 26-year-old man has now been arrested.

Simon Ovens, chief superintendent and borough commander of Harrow police, said: “This was a horrific incident.”
