People of all faiths and backgrounds united at an open day to learn more about the community’s beliefs.

Crowds gathered at the Shia Ithna’ashari Community of Middlesex (SICM) and The Salaam Centre in Pinner Road, on February 5 to mark the annual occasion.

The aim was to help local people become more familiar and comfortable with Islam.

In the spirit of dialogue and friendship, local community leaders attended to share their thoughts on “Social Action” and how we can work together to build a stronger community.

The programme begun with the call to prayer and explanations about the prayer and Qur’an recitation, followed by talks from the Deputy Mayor of Harrow and Rt. Hon. Gareth Thomas MP.

Rabbi Danny Bergson, at Pinner Synagogue, said: “It's the small acts of kindness to the people that forms the fabric of our society.”

Leaders from Christian, Jewish and Hindu faiths delivered inspiring talks on “Social Action” to the audience – made up of about 70 people from across Harrow.

Kumail Versi, an executive committee member of SICM and organiser of the event said: “People enjoyed themselves and it was a great way for us all to get together and share stories.

"One of our community members talked to someone from a local church whose school used to be the house that she was living in. It was an amazing story, it’s crazy the connections people can make.”
