A mother who faced human faeces in the access road near her home has thanked the local firm who stepped in to clear away the mess.

Caren Duhig, 33, and nine-year-old daughter Cassie, live in High Road, Harrow Weald.

The pair were disgusted by what they found in the service road, just off High Road, which is right next to their flat.

While Ms Duhig was desperate for someone to clear the mess away late last year, Harrow Council declined to help as the area was private land.

After getting “extortionate” quotes from many private waste clearance services, Ms Duhig eventually came across the Rubbish Men, a new firm based in Masons Avenue.

She said: “Over the past few months, mountains of leaves from the neighbouring trees had built up on our service road path.

“Coupled with the junk, general waste, takeaway boxes, and drug paraphernalia which had been thrown over the gates by the public, our path had become incredibly difficult to access.

“After assessing the waste and bulk clearance, the Rubbish Men were more than happy to take on the job and even removed some of the junk there and then.

“Their reliability and efficiency were brilliant and they cleared the huge pile of waste for a reasonable fee.

“I was really impressed and so pleased I had found such friendly, work focussed guys who could help when no-one else would take on the task.

“I’m hoping the public and our neighbours will respect the work done – if we work together as a community we can tackle the borough’s ever-growing waste disposal problem and make Harrow a cleaner place to live.”

Ms Duhig gave her thanks to Conan Sammon and Ben Murray, the managing directors of the Rubbish Men, who attended and cleared the site.
