Many of us begin the New Year with resolutions and new approach to everyday life. However for some, the month of bad weather and little daylight is just too much.
We all tend to spend and eat too much at Christmas and so spend January watching our waistline and bank balance, dreaming of a summer vacation.
Perhaps it is for that reason that Monday, January 16, is forecast to be the most depressing day of the year.
Blue Monday was set by life coach and happiness consultant, Cliff Arnall. With albeit little science to back it, he put forward a formula using financial problems, distance from Christmas, weather conditions, failure of New Year’s resolutions and overall low motivation to pinpoint the exact day.
This type of formula is known as pseudoscience which many believe should not be taken seriously.
If the blues do hit come Monday then we suggest doing some exercise to get those endorphins going, getting into nature with a walk in the park or, perhaps, surrendering completely and spending the day in bed.
