A Wealdstone man believes his plan to link all six rail lines at one section could be a “great link” for Harrow.

Terry O’Grady, 65, currently lives in Kenton but lived in Wealdstone for several years, says an interchange station on ground that is already being utilised for railway use, could improve transport links form the borough.

Harrow rail stations currently runs trains via London Midland, the Chiltern Line, London over ground, the Metropolitan and Bakerloo underground lines and Southern rail services.

In August 2014, transport secretary Patrick McLoughlin revealed that the government was looking at a possible extension of Crossrail as far as Tring.

This included potential Crossrail stops at Harrow and Wealdstone and Watford Junction.

However, Mr O'Grady says a new station could link all of these together, and this could help alleviate commuter stress, pollution, and better access to London central.

He said: "I first thought of the idea when he heard that Watford Council started paying for a Metropolitan link to the West Coast Line which involves two new stations and a viaduct.

"If a station link were to be built at an intersection, it would also help alleviate some of the additional commuter journeys within the borough.

"This would become a great link within Harrow.

“With more houses and flats being built in the area, Wealdstone will be landlocked with extra cars and people.

"And they aren’t building new road, as there isn’t scope for it, so better transport links would help.

"Wealdstone town centre is going downhill, there’s gang on every corner, and my daughter is intimidated to walk through the centre at night, which his awful because it’s where she grew up.

"We go to Watford to do our shopping as the town has more to offer and we make a day of it. We use Wealdstone as a corner shop.”

Harrow Council's heart of Harrow plans, costing millions, plan to bring new homes and businesses to the area, as well as delivering the infrastructure needed to for parks, transport and leisure to health and schools.

Wealdstone town centre is included in the plan, including areas in the west and east.
