A woman in her early 70s was tied up and attacked at home as burglars took off with wedding and engagement rings and cash.

Detectives were called to Sudbury Court Drive in Harrow at 8pm to reports of an aggravated burglary.

They found a woman with head and back injuries and suffering from shock.

The victim was home alone on Saturday October 15 and answered the door to three men asking after a man named 'O'Brien'.

She said they had called at the wrong address.

The suspects returned ten minutes later and forced their way into the house.

They tied her up, poured bleach over her, and struck her over the head with a screwdriver.

Fortunately, she was not seriously injured.

All three suspects are described as white men in their early 20s and are of slim build.

They were wearing black clothing.

One is described as being approximately 5ft 3ins tall and the other two approximately 5ft 8ins tall.

They are believed to be of eastern European descent.

Detective Constable John Gillespie of Brent CID said: "This was a cowardly and shocking burglary on a vulnerable elderly woman.

"I would appeal for anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in Sudbury Court Drive to come forward and help us with our enquiries.

"It is a terrible thing to happen in the place where you should feel most safe and the victim has lost items of high sentimental value."
