The walking football season is set to resume at Harrow Leisure Centre next month.

After its success earlier this year, the slower-paced version of the traditional game will relaunch at the Christchurch Avenue centre on September 6 with a free session.

Aimed at people with reduced mobility, the sport has become increasingly popular as a way to help people keep an active lifestyle regardless of age and ability.

The new sessions will be available to both members and non-members, taking place every Tuesday from 11am until 12 noon in the main sports hall.

“We are really excited to be offering the local community the chance to take part in a new and exciting activity,” said manager John Sewell.

“We’ve seen walking football grow hugely in popularity lately. The sessions will include skills development and instruction tailored to each individual’s ability.

“They will give participants the chance to socialise with others and build confidence in a welcoming environment.”

After the complimentary first session, subsequent classes are priced at £3 each.
