Travellers have set up camp at a recreation ground in Edgware.
Five caravans arrived at Chandos Recreation Ground, on Camrose Avenue, yesterday.
Jack Welby, who lives on nearby Merlin Crescent, said they had camped up directly behind his house.
He said he was worried because a group of travellers had camped at the same spot in the past and left it in a poor state.
“I have got nothing against them but the problem is they leave it in a mess,” he said.
He argued that Harrow Council should provide a place for them to stay legally.
“If they gave them a small piece of land then this would be okay,” he said.
“There should be a traveller site where they can all stay. They shouldn’t take up too much land.”
Each of the caravans bears a British licence plate although one car seemingly a part of the convoy has a Romanian plate.
Harrow councillor Gareth Henson said the group had been told to move by Friday at the latest.
He confirmed that court papers had been issued, and the group would go to court if they did not comply with the Friday deadline.
