BABIES in Harrow could be denied vaccines as a result of a delay.

There is a shortage of of the BCG vaccine, which protects against tuberculosis, across Harrow, Brent and Ealing.

A total of 200 jabs were sent to hospitals on Tuesday which have already been allocated to babies.

The Central and North West London Foundation Trust said: "We normally inoculate 100 babies every week in this programme so you can see how the programme is falling behind.

"Our clinical advice to any parent is worried about a baby being exposed to TB they should contact their GP who can take the appropriate action; please remember the vaccine is a preventative measure not a treatment.

"We know parents in these boroughs have been very anxious about the delays and the lack of detail about when more vaccine will be made available; we agree, it has not been acceptable."

Parents will be contacted when the vaccine becomes available.
