The chairman of the Pinner and Northwood Business Club is getting himself thrown in jail for charity.

Les Conway is fundraising for St Luke's Hospice by spending time in prison next month without being charged with any crime.

The charity is hosting the event at Pinner Police Station, Bridge Street, on Friday, March 11.

Jail and Bail 2016 will see well known people thrown in jail and only released when bail of £1,000 is donated.

Previous ‘prisoners’ include former Mayors of Harrow as well as councillors, religious leaders and other community figures.

Mr Conway said: “I can categorically say this will be my first time in a prison cell and I’m hoping my last.

“Joking aside it’s for a fabulous cause and I’m glad that I am taking part on behalf of the Pinner and Northwood Business Club. I’m hoping my friends in the community will dig deep and get me out of there as fast possible.”

St Luke's Hospice is based in Kenton and cares for people across Harrow and Brent whose illnesses are no longer curable.

Its aim is to add life to days, even though days can't be added to life.
