ADRENALINE junkies took part in a fire walk to raise money for a hospice.

A total of 20 people took on the challenge of walking on hot coals barefoot as part of the St Luke’s Fire Walk.

The day raised £3,000 for the hospice, based in Kenton Grange, Kenton.

Experienced fire walker Cliff Mann taught the participants how to walk over the red-hot wood embers without injury, before taking to the cinders in front of family and friends.

Christine Murphy, 30, who took part said, “My mum volunteers for St Luke’s and she told me about it. I liked the idea of challenging myself! It was an absolutely amazing experience. I was getting quite nervous in the build up, so the briefing from Cliff really helped. The group really encouraged each other through the fire walk. St Luke’s is a great cause and you can see where the money we raised is going.”
