A TEENAGER organised a football tournament to raise money for seriously ill children.

Sam Taylor, who goes to Jewish Free School, in Kenton, raised £1,000 for Spread a Smile, based in Finchley Road, Barnet.

The Year 9 pupil arranged the 3-a-side event over half term for 30 pupils from his year at Power League, in Mill Hill, and raised £1,000.

He said: “I thought it would be fun to organise a football tournament for my friends and I to have something to do on a day off school and that it would be even more enjoyable if we could do it whilst raising money to help seriously ill children in hospital who sadly don't have the luxury of being able to go out and play football with their friends”.
