A councillor who took a selfie with two world leaders has enjoyed internet stardom after his photo went viral.

Ameet Jogia, 28 caught India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and David Cameron on film while the two leaders took a tour of Parliament.

Prime Minister Modi arrived in the UK last week on a state visit, the firstfor a decade.

Since the photo was uploaded to Facebook and Twitter it has been shared more than 600 times.

Ameet said: “I was so nervous, I didn’t know what to say “Modi is such a nice person, very down to earth. Cameron was very funny. He asked to get in the picture and made sure I took it properly to put online. “It shows the light-hearted side of politics and that it’s not stuck up.”

The councilor for Cannons ward, was at Parliament last Thursday to see Prime Minister Modi give a speech to the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

Afterwards Ameet spotted the pair of leaders and managed to get the “historic” selfie.

“It’s two great leaders, two great powers in one photo, so I had to share it even though it’s not very flattering photo of myself. It’s a bit embarrassing,” he said.

“I never thought I would get the opportunity to meet these people let alone get a photo with them so i’m so glad I asked. It’s a great memory for years and years to come,” he added.

Ameet has had the photo blown up and placed on his mantel piece at his home on headstone lane. Since posting the photo he has had messages from people from all over the world asking how he got his selfie. He has also spoken to Conservative mayoral candidate Zac Goldsmith who told him that even he is unable to get a selfie of the same quality.
