Harrow has received less money per person for the NHS than any other London borough over the last three years.

New figures obtained by Harrow West MP Gareth Thomas have revealed Harrow Clinical Commissioning Group has received the lowest per capita funding of any London borough since 2013.

In 2013/14, Harrow CCG received just £898 per person for NHS spending, whilst in 2014/15 Harrow received £922 per head.

In comparison, Kensington and Chelsea received £1,407 per head for the 2013/14 financial year, and received £1,441 in 2014/15.

This year Harrow is projected to receive £999 per head, meaning Merton will be the only London Borough receiving less with £997 per person.

Mr Thomas said: “There is no rational reason why Harrow should get less funding per resident for the NHS than every other part of London, and it is particularly worrying that Harrow’s share of health spending has fallen in the last few years.

“In this time, the opening hours at a number of Health Centre’s have been cut making it harder for residentas to see a GP, whilst the pressure at Northwick Park Hospital has been building recently, with as many as 1 in 2 patients having to wait more than 4 hours to be treated at A&E in some weeks last winter.

“It is vital that Harrow receives its fair share of funding on health and I will continue to pressure the Government to ensure that Harrow residents do not lose out.”

The funding allocation per head for every Clinical Commission Group area in London was revealed by Alistair Burt MP in response to a Parliamentary Question tabled by Mr Thomas.
