Harrow’s representative in London assembly has confirmed he will stand again to defend his seat.

Navin Shah will again stand for Labour in the Harrow and Brent constituency in the next elections in May 2016.

Len Duvall, chair of the London Labour regional board, said: “This is an exceptional list of candidates full of talent and experience. It’s also a list that reflects London in terms of women, BAME and LGBT candidates.

“It’s the strongest team we’ve ever had to represent Londoners across our city, and work with Sadiq Khan leading the campaign in London up to May.”

Mr Shah was elected as the London Assembly Member in 2008, after taking the seat from now Harrow East MP Bob Blackman.

He was then re-elected in 2012, beating his previous majority 18 times.

An architect by trade, Mr Shah also served as a Harrow Councillor for Kenton East Ward in 1994, and was Leader of Harrow Council from 2004 to 2006 – remaining the Harrow Labour Group Leader until June 2008.
