HUNDREDS enjoyed dancing and dinner at a business club’s Diwali party.
Organised by Harrow East MP Bob Blackman and his business club, more than 300 people turned up to the Premier Banqueting Hall, in Harrow Weald, last week to celebrate Diwali – the Hindu festival of lights.
The event was attended by Mayor of London and Uxbridge MP Boris Johnson, mayoral candidate Zac Goldsmith, Harrow’s own Lord Dolar Popat and Rajrajeswar Guruji of Siddhashram Shakti Centre.
Asif Iqbal, president of the Harrow United Deaf Club who also attended, said: “Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, was delighted to hear about my positive work with the local community.
“Boris thanked me for my dedication in making significant contributions to the local community and society.”
The Indian festival of Diwali has significance to Hindus, Sikhs and Jains, making it the most widely celebrated festival in the country.
