PROBLEMS in the community inspired one schoolboy to write his own poem about the beauty of London.

Raees Chaudhry, who is in Year 7 at Quantain Hall School off Hindes Road, Harrow, could be off to a career in creative writing after creating his own poem about growing up in Harrow.

The 12-year-old sent his poem, entitled London, Picture of Life, into the Harrow Times in the hope that other young children could read and enjoy it.

He said: “I have read and been listening to many stories about problems in our community.

“However, I wanted to share a poem I wrote at school about how I love London and have thoroughly enjoyed growing up and living in Harrow.”

You can read the poem here:

Narrow, enclosed, crowded streets with people rushing to their work places
Accompanied by the heat of the sun which sizzles my delicate skin.
Musty areas within the empty, silent streets in the early morning dawn
And clouds lie beneath the skyscrapers upon the scorching summer sun.

Gigantic rages of thunderstorms strike lightening in the cold autumn month
And rain falls upon my head sending frequent chills down my spine.
Pollution creates a foggy visibility, a sudden clap of loud thunder echoes in my ear.

At night the moon shines in its splendid beauty; a blanket of sparkling stars appear.
The sun, Protector of the Earth, falls into the far horizon
The image of a scarlet red view makes one stop and view nature's beauty.

LONDON, a place of business and wealth.
LONDON, a place of breathtaking sights and culture.
LONDON, a picture of the universe in one city.
LONDON, a picture of life.
