FAMILY, friends and shop staff are to come together to remember a 16-year-old girl who died after a long battle with cancer.

Teenager Helena Bark, of Wargrave Road, South Harrow, died peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of Sunday, October 4 following a two-year battle with cancer.

Daughter to Rosie and Trefor, 16-year-old Helena was first diagnosed with cancer in September 2013 before going into remission last June and receiving a bone marrow transplant in July.

But earlier this year doctors found out the cancer had returned, leaving friends and family members rallying together to raise money to help bring Helena home from University College Hospital, London.

In just two months more than £9,000 was raised for the former pupil of Welldon Park Junior School in Wyvenhoe Road, helping the family to pay for home improvements to aid with her care and treat her to some memorable days out such as trips to the zoo.

In her last months, Helena continued to enjoy arts and crafts and painting her nails, along with attending her school prom and spending time with her three young brothers, extended family and her friends.

Now staff at Sainsburys in South Harrow, who helped launch the fundraising campaign and supported the family throughout the journey, are putting together a book of condolences in her memory.

The book will be available from Wednesday, October 7 and to add a message of support, please ask a member of staff.
