ART lovers can pick up a painting with a difference at a charity exhibition tonight.

More than 200 canvasses have been donated to a charity exhibition and sale taking place tonight, including some artworks by well-known personalities such as artist Christiane Kubrick and actors Anthony and Emily Head and Tamsin Greig.

The difference with this exhibition is that each canvas is sold at the same price, £35 for the small ones and £70 for the larger ones, and all will be displayed anonymously.

This means whether painted by a local or national artist, celebrity, consultant, nurse, or service user, or simply someone who enjoys art, each piece will be bought for its appeal to the buyer, not because of who painted it.

Emily Head, of Inbetweeners fame, said: “My Dad and I are glad to be supporting Mount Vernon Cancer Centre and the great work that their Information and Support Service do, by donating a small piece of art each.”

The event, organised by Mount Vernon Cancer Centre Charitable Fund, will raise money for their Here if You Need Us appeal to fund its information and support Service which receives 37,000 requests for help from people affected by cancer every year.

The exhibition launch evening is being held today at the Harrow Arts Centre from 6.30pm to 9pm and is open to all.

This free event will include live jazz, refreshments and a raffle with some exclusive prizes donated by Mrs Kubrick.

All paintings will be displayed until Sunday, October 11 and any not sold on the launch evening will be available for purchase.
