A primary school has announced it has brought in a new headteacher with more than 17 years of experience.

Clive Westall has been announced as the new headteacher of Aylward Primary School, in Pangbourne Drive, Stanmore, filling the seat of former head Ms J Howkins.

Mr Westall has been a headteacher for 17 years, during which time he successfully set up two schools in Swindon and Dubai.

He said: “I am very excited to be taking on the role of headteacher at Aylward Primary School.

“Aylward is a very welcoming school that is thriving, with motivated pupils, committed staff and fantastic school grounds. I was attracted to the position for the aforementioned reasons but also because Aylward is growing.

“I am looking forward to using my experience and skills to facilitate the further growth of the school and enable our students to reach their potential.”

Plans are currently underway at the primary school to construct a new building on the existing site.

Aylward Primary also benefits from the strong partnership with Bentley Wood Secondary School, as part of the Bentley Wood Academy Trust.

Governor Marcello Borgese said: “We're delighted to announce Mr Westall as our new headteacher.

“He has the experience, skills and personality to help drive Aylward's development forward to achieve even greater success for our pupils.

“Mr Westall has already met many pupils, parents, staff and governors and I know he will receive a very warm welcome in September when he commences his tenure. We look forward to working with him.”
