A leading basketball team will be able to help more people into the sport thanks to a charity donation.

The London Titans wheelchair basketball team run six teams at three venues across the capital, including one in Stanmore.

But despite the team featuring a number of the sport’s leading names including Tyler Saunders and Gaz Choudhry, it has also struggled to find the money to fund wheelchairs for aspiring players.

Designed for maximum mobility, the wheelchairs are the lightest on the market and are specially made to fit a player’s posture - but can cost anywhere from £1,500 to £4,000.

But now, the Titans have been chosen as this year's sole recipients of fundraising efforts from Path to Success, a charity founded 10 years ago by Anita Choudhrie that has raised thousands for good causes in the UK and abroad.

Fundraising events for the team will include a Diwali casino party and a charity auction, and a team of 12 will take on the Three Peaks Challenge in August, climbing the three mountains in England, Wales and Scotland in 24 hours.
