On an emotional day in which they remembered former player, captain and chairman Nathan Theebaraj – who recently lost his battle with illness – Bessborough came up short against Kenton.

Positive, vibrant cricket was the order of the day and after being set a total of 269 for nine (declared) to chase down, Bessborough ran their hosts close.

Bessborough’s reply of 259 for nine was their highest in Division Three of the Middlesex County Cricket League since August 2013 but it could not stop Kenton sealing a winning draw.

Nitin Modha picked up his now customary five-for, snaring five for 105 before Bessborough duo Barrie (108) and Sherrick Chavda (46) put on a superb fifth-wicket stand to keep their side in contention.

Ultimately, though, they fell short and had to settle for a solitary point.

The Seconds lost by seven wickets at home to Ickenham.

West Harrow Seconds moved up to second place by beating Turnham Green & Poly to make it seven wins from eight.

Batting first, West Harrow put on 228 for eight before declaring.

Kunj Vadgama (81 not out) was the star with the bat before 16-year-old Abhi Patel took six for 20 to remove Turnham Green for 109.

Meanwhile, the Thirds had a disappointing afternoon at home to Alexandra Park, losing by two wickets.

All out for a well below-par 126 – Prakash Gupta’s 59 the highlight – West Harrow took eight wickets but could only delay Alexandra Park, who got home with two wickets to spare.
